PetSmart Charities celebrates 25 years of Pet Adoption Week by hosting a variety of events in your local PetSmart store from 18 – 24 March.

National Adoption Week Celebrates 25 Years of Pet Adoption!

National Adoption Week in Guelph - March 18 - 24, 2024


Guelph PetSmart is proud to announce that it will be home to adoptable pets on National Adoption Day. The GHS (Guelph Humane Society) is proud to be a part of this event, and we are proud to announce that we will be hosting adoptable pets at our local PetSmart in Guelph, located in the heart of Silvercreek.

The GHS is proud to be teaming up with PetSmartCharities of Canada to host this event.

During the event in-store, GHS encourages pet owners to make space in their home for animals in need. As PetSmart Canada celebrates 25 years of service, we invite you to find room in your heart and home for a kitty like Jessi. Jessi came to GHS in need of urgent veterinary care and is now searching for her happy tail. “National Adoption Week is the perfect opportunity to provide a dog or cat in need with the one thing they need more than anything else – human companionship,” Heidi Marston said in a statement. 

Sheidi Marston, Director of Pet Place With so many animal shelters across the country struggling to keep up with the demand for care, adding a new pet to your family can also have a positive effect on your community’s health.

National Adoption Week is one of the most special days of the year.


National Adoption Week in Canada is celebrated by PetSmart Charities of Adoptable pets can be met and petted in large areas of PetSmart stores, where staff and volunteers are available to introduce them and answer questions. Pet parents can also find out what products and services are available to help them get the most out of their new furry family members. 

"We're excited to be part of National Adoption week and to be able to work with PetSmart charities of Canada, as well as our own local PetSmart store in Silvercreek,” says Jane Dawkins, Director, GHS Communications and Community Engagement. Currently, there are 92 animals in GHS' care, and our mission is to help as many of them find new homes and a happy ending through this event.

PetSmart Monday – Wednesday 3 PM

The GHS team will be on site Monday, Wednesday and Friday 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. and Saturday 11 a.m. until 4 p.m.
